Protein shakes are a perfect healthy start to any morning and are even better after a good workout. Key in “protein shake recipes” on Google or Pinterest and you’ll find a countless number of websites and blogs with delicious recipes that you can create right in your own kitchen.

Did your 1-year-old just eat your last banana? Don’t worry — substitute it for a cup of frozen berries or nonfat Greek yogurt. Want something heartier? Slice a cucumber or a celery stick and use it in place of fruit. Want to boost your metabolism? Kale has little to no calories and is packed with vitamins! The great thing about these recipes is that you can replace any ingredient to cater to your own taste. You can blend whatever you like as long as you use protein powder to give it that healthy kick.

When it comes to protein powder, choose a brand that best fits you. There are so many choices. I usually go with an organic vanilla powder. I find it works best with theses recipes. But go crazy … mix in the chocolate powder for something that takes like a treat! Use a good quality blender for best results. Leave it chunky or blend it smooth. Each recipe makes about an 8-ounce shake. Double the recipe and share with a friend or spouse, or save it for later. Happy Juicing!
